My Poetry Book Now Available

I’m excited to announce that my poetry collection, Sobriety and Other Unfinished Funerals, is officially available.

The autobiographical (with some creative liberties) book traces one person’s descent into alcoholism, the difficult process of getting sober, and the complicated reality of life afterward. It isn’t neat and certainly isn’t a conventionally inspirational recovery story. Sobriety does not erase grief, repair every relationship, or silence the knowledge that relapse is always only a liquor-store trip away. But it does leave room for endurance—and, occasionally, hope.

All of the poems work together to tell a full story in three distinct parts about addiction, loss, recovery, and what it means to keep choosing another day. Thus, it is rather necessary to read it like you would most other things—in order.

These poems have been written here and there over the past fifteen or so years. The older ones were then taken and edited to fit within the overall narrative.

You can purchase several versions here on this site: a signed paperback and a signed limited edition numbered hardcover (which has an alternate cover).
